Monkey Paw is a lead single of Tarul's concept album, "Blood so thick it clots in the veins." The track depicts the destructive ambition ingrained into immigrants, which is severely worsened by the expectations of the American dream.

The album follows the life story of a South-Asian American's self-destruction that ultimately leave them isolated and bitter. The album asks: "What led to the protagonist's demise? Their environment or themselves?"
