about
The Catcher is a lead single of Tarul's concept album, "Blood so thick it clots in the veins." The track tells the story of a man marrying out of obligation and age, highlighting the irony in his perceived lack of control.
The album follows the life story of a South-Asian American's self-destruction that ultimately leave them isolated and bitter. The album asks: "What led to the protagonist's demise? Their environment or themselves?"
lyrics
Verse 1:
Listen up my dear
Solitary fears
Nothing left for us
Baby girl, won’t you hold my hand?
Alone I cannot stand
Nothing left us to see
Verse 2:
The catcher’s grave was set for
Half a year, the slightest chance of rain
My early days were set in
Half a year, the suburbs and mundane
Who will step up?
Who will stop this whole parade?
Who will step up?
Who will stop this whole charade?
Chorus:
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
Verse 3:
You’re what I need, but not what I wanted
I would have sailed if I could go farther
You’re what I need, but not what I wanted
I would have sailed if I could go farther too
I would have sailed if I hadn’t met you
I would have sailed if I hadn’t met you
(I would have sailed without you)
Chorus:
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
La la-la-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la
Post-Chorus:
The catcher’s grave was set for
Half a year, the slightest chance of rain
My early days were set in
Half a year, the clockwork cannot change
